Classification of capacitors

There are many ways and types of classification of capacitors, which can be divided into the following categories according to the material characteristics of capacitors.
1、Aluminium electrolytic capacitors
Capacitance planning for 0.1UF-22000UF, high pulsating current, long life, large capacity, widely used in power supply filtering, decoupling and other occasions.
2、Film capacitor
Capacitance planning is 0.1PF-10UF, with small tolerance, high capacity stability and very low piezoelectric effect, so it is the choice of X, Y safety capacitor, EMI/EMC.
3、Tantalum capacitor
Capacitance planning 2.2UF-560UF, low equivalent series resistance, low equivalent series inductance. Pulsation absorption, transient response and noise suppression are better than aluminum electrolytic capacitors, which is the ideal choice for high stability power supply, X2 safety capacitor.
4、Ceramic capacitor
The capacitance is planned to be 0.5PF-100UF, which is the result of common material and film technology, catering to the design concept of “lighter, thinner and more energy-saving”.

5、Super capacitor
The capacitance is planned to be 0.022F-70F, with high capacitance value, so it is also called “gold capacitor” or “Faraday capacitor”. The main features are: super high capacitance, good charge/discharge characteristics, suitable for power storage and power backup. The disadvantages are low withstanding voltage, narrow working temperature planning, ceramic capacitor.
