1. Rated voltage of the capacitor.
It refers to the peak value of high DC voltage or pulse voltage that can be continuously applied to the capacitor in the rated temperature range. Considering the reliability derating requirement, it is usually required that the actual working voltage should be less than 80% of the rated voltage value.
2. Selection of operating voltage of capacitors.
Through the pulse voltage and withstand voltage of the capacitor, due to the loss of film capacitors, when used in high frequency and high pulse conditions, such as a larger current through the capacitor will make the film capacitor’s own heat, and in serious cases there will be a risk of thermal breakdown, etc. (smoke, breakdown), so the use is also limited by the rated current of the capacitor. It is necessary to make sure that both voltages are within the allowable range when using the amperometric capacitor manufacturer. If the actual working voltage (current) waveform cannot be determined, the working temperature rise of the capacitor can be determined, usually for polyester capacitors, the temperature rise of the capacitor itself is allowed to be less than 10C. For polypropylene capacitors, it is allowed to be used under the condition that the temperature rise of the capacitor itself is less than 5℃. (The actual measurement should be done on the surface of the capacitor end lead welding part)
3.Capacitor capacity and lead span selection.
1) The capacity must be selected within the range of E24 series values: 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.5, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0, 2.2, 2.4, 2.7, 3.0, 3.3, 3.6, 3.9, 4.3, 4.7, 5.1, 5.6, 6.2, 6.8, 7.5, 8.2, 9.1, of which the following is the horizontal line E12 series value, for the preferred series value.
(2) The capacity range should be in accordance with the capacity range given in the general specifications of each type of capacitor.
The upper and lower limits of capacity may be slightly different from the specifications provided by different manufacturers, but if the selected capacity value is significantly lower than the lower limit of the category, it should be selected in ceramic capacitors, and vice versa, if the capacity value is higher than the upper limit of the category, it should be selected in electrolytic capacitors.
